Shop Update
I'm cleaning out my closet and listing some great dresses, skirts and tops from my personal wardrobe to my Etsy shop! I'm trying to save up so I can purchase the rest of the things I need so I can begin practicing wet plate collodion/tintype photography. I took a workshop earlier this year and I don't think I ever posted about it. Hopefully I can get a post up tomorrow. Anyway, if you want to help this lady make her dreams a reality come check out my shop HERE!

These four items plus a whole lot more are available now!

childhood photos
I found a bunch of old photos the other day while cleaning out the garage. So here's a little trip down memory lane-

My 4th birthday (obviously) with a Strawberry Shortcake cake. My sister had the same theme for her 5th birthday just a month an half later. So we are both 4 years old here.

My mom made this for my sister's 1st or 2nd birthday. I think it's adorable!

I posted this one on Instagram the other day. It's of me, my sister and our great Grandma painting patio furniture.

Riding bikes in the backyard.

I remember this day at the beach. I thought these glasses were awesome. Still do :)

With our Dad camping. Take note of the rad Coors coozies to the right.

I wish my kids had one of these to play on! Now a days you'd probably have to wear a stupid helmet to go on one. Anyway, I remember having a lot of fun this baby!
As you can see my sister and I were always together. Even through high school we had the same group of friends and always went out together on the weekends. Looking at these makes me miss her.

Outfit post?
Earlier this week I stopped by a new thrift store in the area. I was feeling like it had a gem waiting for me and I was right! I found this beautiful vintage gauze dress in mint condition. It's a dream dress for sure! It has long sleeves which make it a bit hot for summer but I couldn't resist wearing it anyway.

I was out at the golden hour while Marianne had some pictures taken of her in some handmade bonnets and figured I might as well get a few pictures of myself in the dress.

I had to get pictures of Maggie and Alex as well. Alex takes all the pictures of me for my blog. She is a huge help to me in so many ways!

Have you had any recent scores at the thrift stores?

old photos

The other day me, my Mom and Nana were discussing who the kids looked like. I was telling them that I don't really see myself when I look at them. Then I got out these photos to prove my point. The baby pic on the bottom right resembles Maggie but that's about it, in my opinion. I wish I had childhood pictures of Ruben so you could see how much they all look like him, but I don't.
I love the one of me ironing. Little did I know that chore would take up hundreds of hours of my life when I got older! I wish I was that happy ironing now. Unfortunately it is a part of my life because I refuse to pay for dry cleaning. Plus, I'm quite good at it so I see no reason to pay someone else to do it. You see, me and the iron go WAY back. I remember my Dad teaching me and my sister to iron his pants and shirts when I was in 2nd grade (maybe younger). I don't know if my sister pretended to be really bad at it but in no time it was officially my job. Thanks Jen! I also ironed my school uniforms when I was at my Mom's. My friend Rita's skirt was always nicely ironed (by her mom) and her pleats were perfectly flat. I can't even tell you how many hours I spent trying to get my skirt to look as good as her's! I never did. Maybe we had a crappy iron? I don't know, but it drove me crazy!
I didn't anticipate this post being about ironing but hey, that's where it went! How many times can say iron? A lot. Here's one more just for fun- IRON! hahaha I suppose I could have used pressed instead. Oh well.
So, my question to you is- Do you think your children resemble you? Or if you don't have kids, do you resemble your parents? AND Does anyone else out there iron? Or am I a loner on that one?

Have you seen...
the awesome photos from Nahanni Reforestation (@nahannireforestation) on Instagram? The brief bio says, "Nahanni
Reforestation was my dad's (Dan) treeplanting company when I was a kid.
These are his slides I am sorting. Kickstarter project coming soon...".
If you enjoy these as much as I do, make sure to check out the full feed here.

vintage omnia'c pop-out platform clog skates
perhaps you remember this post from over a year ago? the one where i ogle over the coolest pop-out skates ever. whether you do or not i'm here to report that i did indeed find a pair of Omnia'c clog skates and i did indeed purchase them for a mere $20! ever since that post i have kept an eye out for a pair. over the months i found several that were either too big/small and all of them were $200+, a price much too high for my budget. several months ago i decided to check out ebay and low and behold these were up for auction. they were half a size too big so i decided i wouldn't bid more than $20, thinking that for sure someone else would outbid me. obviously you can see i won!

they are not ideal for walking around in but they work just fine for skating! i nearly killed myself skating in the house for this picture :) i'm looking forward to some more practice and possibly a skinned knee or two. and if you're lucky MAYBE a video ;) who doesn't enjoy watching someone eat it? i know i do!
i found a few for sale if anyone is interested here, here, and here.

peacock chair
did i ever post here about my peacock chair??? i can't remember, so if i'm repeating myself bear with me. a couple months ago nicky's mom's neighborhood was having a neighborhood yard sale. i told them both that i was on a hunt for a peacock chair and to keep their eyes peeled. nicky and i stopped at this amazing spanish style house with succulents galore and a driveway filled with awesomeness. the couple that lived there were so cool! he was leather tooler and ended up taking us to his workshop in the backyard. the workshop was right out of a tom waits song. old dusty upright piano, faded american flags, old signs, antlers...you get the idea. he told us that we could come by any time for some lessons. when are we gonna take him up on his offer nicky??? when we were walking out i was admiring their hammock under a big shady tree. then my eyes wandered to the green house. and through the windows i spotted the chair. i asked if we could go check it out and he said sure. (i'm pretty positive they would have let us check out their whole house and maybe even let us stay for dinner. they were that welcoming and nice!) nicky and i walked into a land of staghorn ferns surrounding the chair. my chair. i got very excited and raced out to ask if they'd be willing to sell it. the wife said ok and asked if $10 was fair. it was hard for me not to jump up and down right there! yes, $10 was more than fair! anyway, it has been at nicky's mom's and on saturday she brought it over. we each sat in and took very serious silly pictures which you can see here. now i just have to make a place for her!
oh yeah, i almost forgot about my new plant in the picture. 4 bucks at a yard sale. score!

macrame plant hanger
in my last post i spoke of my macrame score at the rummage sale. i got two huge rolls of two different ropes, about 15 vintage macrame books and several metal rings for a VERY reasonable price! as much as i've wanted to learn to macrame over the last few years, i honestly never imagined i'd love it this much! i'm seriously addicted! above is the second plant hanger i've made (there are three so far. last night i made one with a piece of driftwood. it looks really cool.) i'm very pleased with how it turned out and super excited to start another one. out of the myriad crafts i have dappled with over the years, this one is by far my favorite!
