Shop Update

I'm cleaning out my closet and listing some great dresses, skirts and tops from my personal wardrobe to my Etsy shop! I'm trying to save up so I can purchase the rest of the things I need so I can begin practicing wet plate collodion/tintype photography. I took a workshop earlier this year and I don't think I ever posted about it. Hopefully I can get a post up tomorrow. Outfit post?

Earlier this week I stopped by a new thrift store in the area. I was feeling like it had a gem waiting for me and I was right! I found this beautiful vintage gauze dress in mint condition. It's a dream dress for sure! It has long sleeves which make it a bit hot for summer but I couldn't resist wearing it anyway.

I was out at the golden hour while Marianne had some pictures taken of her in some handmade bonnets and figured I might as well get a few pictures of myself in the dress.

I had to get pictures of Maggie and Alex as well. Alex takes all the pictures of me for my blog. She is a huge help to me in so many ways!

It's been awhile...

Hi all! I am indeed alive and still pregnant. This past month was a rough one so I decided to take a break from blogging and focus on surviving. Thankfully I'm feeling much better now!

I'm due at the end of next month so I'm in the home stretch finally. We also found out that this little babe is a girl. I wanted it to be a surprise but I'm happy to know so we can attempt to come up with a name for this lamb. If it was up to Marianne her name would be Old Man Coyote (we've been reading this series by Thornton W. Burgess ) and Shane has suggested a variety of names involving superheros and poop or fart. I guess I shouldn't expect more from a 2 and 5 year old!

Although I was pretty frazzled and depressed over the last couple of months we did manage to do some fun things. The week before last we visited Griffith Observatory and Park. Neither Ruben or myself had ever been there. It was a fun day and I can't wait to go back when it's not the smoggiest day of the year. You could hardly see downtown, it was pretty yucky.



We went to the beach several times.

I  made lots of soup.


We went on a desert adventure with Nicky and family.


And we visited my sister.

I look forward to getting back to regular postings and hope all has been well on the other end of the screen.

weekend fun

i love this skirt!

What a wonderful weekend we had! I can't usually say that and 100% mean it, but today I can. We went to see the Road Kill Kings on Saturday at the coolest, tiniest bar on PCH called Mother's. What a fun band! They have a pedal steel/fiddle player who was so rad! They invited Border Town Saints (my husband's band) to come up and play a few songs and they were awesome!
A few other things we did- painted the shutters and front door, helped out my sister in law, got massive amounts of laundry done and overall had a super laid back, productive weekend!

i ♥ macrame!

outfit- 100% thrifted!!!

Here is my new macrame purse I bought yesterday! I think I'm going to have to keep it for now :D

Macramé is an ancient craft of knotting in geometric patterns to create a host of creative arts; from jewelry and home decorations to plant holders and wall hangers. The term macramé is Arabic in origin meaning 'fringe'. The art of macramé dates back to the thirteenth century when the Arabian weavers started knotting the extra fabric at the edges of loomed fabric. I'm not sure what it is about macrame that is so appealing to me lately, but I'm dying to learn how to do it! Last weekend Nicky's Mom (who use to be an avid Macrame-er in the 70's) bought a vintage macrame pattern book. She may not know it, but I've decided she must teach me! I will also be keeping my eyes peeled for any macrame items in the thrift stores :D

land ho!!

outfit details- 100% thrifted!

Today I am featuring two new items that will be for sale in my shop later today. First up, is this fun, vintage blue blazer. It's in excellent condition and, I think, very cute! I've never seen myself as the blazer type of gal, but after putting it on, I think I might be able to pull it off.
Next up are these cool white capri's. They are light and comfy and have a pretty flower cut-out detail on the bottom, which you unfortunately can't see it in the photos.

patchwork dreams and an update

denim shorts, belt, clogs, handbag- thrifted

I absolutely LOVE my new 70's patchwork handbag! It very well may be my best purse find to date. From the wood handles and awesome fabric to the big pocket and size, it's sheer perfection (as far as I'm concerned)!

The denim shorts are also new. I was going to add them to my shop because they're kinda big on me, but I'm thinking about keeping them. After putting them on I didn't mind the size and thought they were kinda cute. Plus, I don't really have any shorts for summer. I guess I've talked myself into keeping them for now :D

Today I am in a funk! I thought perhaps wearing this lovely new dress would lift my spirits. I really liked it when I saw it, but after briefly putting it on for these photos, I'm REALLY loving it! Is it absolutely necessary to sell it? I'm on the fence at this point. What do you think?
Moving on to an item I have no choice in keeping, these adorable 1960s mary jane's. They too, are new to the shop. Why do my feet have to be so big?! It seems like with each child, they grow bigger. What's the deal? Anyway, if you are as fond of these as I am, please feel free to snatch them up.

I just realized that my entire outfit is thrifted!
