falling leaves in the autumn air

Yesterday I wore one of my favorite dresses. One I bought about six years ago, before I decided to shop solely at thrift stores. It's from Free People, the only brand I'll buy at full price. I paired it with a vintage crochet sweater, my leather belt and boots.
Today the rain continues, which is something that pleases me very much! And lots of rain means a rainy day soundtrack. For me (today) that would be the album Alice by Tom Waits, or possibly The Best of Leonard Cohen. Either way, you can't go wrong.
What's your rainy day soundtrack?

  2. your rainy day soundtrack is pretty much exactly mine. just listened to Alice coming across the mojave desert (opposite of a rainy day, but still good listening)...for rain i will throw in some jesse sykes for weepy gloomy in the good way tunes.

you look glorious and i love your free people dress. i am always giddy when i find a free people item at the thrift store. which is all too rare. i also love you cactus; they make a patio look so friendly and warm.

okay - AND - i am utterly flabbergasted that you showed me that dave alvin song. just the other night darin and i watched and loved Border Radio (have you seen it?) and i wanted to write my next post about it, especially the fashions...anyway dave alvin's in it as well as a lot of other rad 80s rockers and darin loves him. i've never heard his music till now with that gorgeous song you introduced me to...so THANK YOU and don't you just love synchronicity!

  4. I can't believe how green those falling leaves are! Haha... I also keep forgetting you're expecting, because I never notice your belly from the front. It's like I get a surprise every time, "Oh right! Yay, so wonderful!" I'd never heard of Free People before... I'll have to look it up. :)

  11. You look so lovely among the changing leaves! Free People was always a favorite of mine before going all second hand, too. It's still a little thrill to thrift their stuff, especially with how expensive it can be retail.

I have a strange rainy day listening ritual. When it is raining and cold and gloomy, I always put on "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys. It always makes the sun (inside) come out.

  20. I love that fall invites us to wear toasty colors, and you pull them off so well! Lovely!

My rainy day soundtrack is Sea Change by Beck, which was heavily influenced by Histoire de Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourgh, so I guess both interchangeably. It depends on whether I want to sing or not (I can't sing in French very well, as I make up words that sound vaguely like the language).
