vintage omnia'c pop-out platform clog skates

perhaps you remember this post from over a year ago? the one where i ogle over the coolest pop-out skates ever. whether you do or not i'm here to report that i did indeed find a pair of Omnia'c clog skates and i did indeed purchase them for a mere $20! ever since that post i have kept an eye out for a pair. over the months i found several that were either too big/small and all of them were $200+, a price much too high for my budget. several months ago i decided to check out ebay and low and behold these were up for auction. they were half a size too big so i decided i wouldn't bid more than $20, thinking that for sure someone else would outbid me. obviously you can see i won!

they are not ideal for walking around in but they work just fine for skating! i nearly killed myself skating in the house for this picture :) i'm looking forward to some more practice and possibly a skinned knee or two. and if you're lucky MAYBE a video ;) who doesn't enjoy watching someone eat it? i know i do!

he doesn't miss a thing! i love yoko in the super rad beatles poster, "the rug man, it really tied the room together"-awesome!, we have wes anderson, guitar gods, westerns and every horror legend including ash from army of darkness (one of ruben's favorite movies). genius!

this weekend turned out to be quite a lot of fun. saturday night we went to the festival at the kids school which included live music, rides, food and drinks and most importantly a rummage sale! turns out my unknown macrame soul sister donated ALL her vintage macrame supplies (books, cord, hoops...) to the school. and yours truly snatched them all up for a great price. but, that will have a post of it's own, so stay tuned crafty ladies! sunday we headed over to cook's corner (conveniently located next to our church) for more fun, music and beers with jessica and family and listened while the guys played a short set with the freightshakers. summer has indeed begun!!!

i'm not the first to do this type of post, and i know i won't be the last.

i no longer follow models or even know who is popular in the fashion world, but back in the 90's i totally did! i got all the magazines and cut out the pictures i loved and made scrapbooks and poster boards filled with my favorites. and who was my fave? none other than the stunning linda evangelista!

whether her hair was brown, blonde, red or black, short or long, she was beautiful!

she could be androgynous, glamorous, sexy or girly.

just plain gorgeous!

"bee bee". that's what shane calls marianne.

yesterday afternoon we laid on the bed in the sunshine and listened to the story of peter and the wolf on the classical music station. it was told by boris karloff. shane has a love for any story with a wolf in it, and this short film of peter and the wolf is a favorite of his. so hearing the familiar music and story on the radio brought a huge smile to his face. the children and i listen to classical music everyday. i'm so glad that they enjoy it and appreciate it.

marianne was looking cute in her little vintage playsuit, that nicky let us borrow, so i decided to do a wee photo shoot of her. she'll be 9 months in two weeks!

here's to a productive week! i plan on getting lots of things checked off my to-do list.

what's in my bag

if you've been around the land of blog for any amount of time, there's a good chance you have come across a post of the inside of someone's stylish, organized purse. i always get a kick out of these for a couple of reasons. first off, i wonder if they are REALLY as organized as their pictures show. i mean, are people really that cute and hip all the way down to the smallest details such as lip gloss, camera bags and organizers? secondly, i always crack up at thought of posting what the inside of my purse looks like. i'm actually laughing right now because soon you will scroll down and see for yourself.

look how sweet and innocent she looks! little do you know what she contains inside her bowels. at least once everyday i can be heard saying, "ahhh! i can never find anything in this purse!" or, "where is my phone/chap stick/camera/keys...". as if it's her fault i'm completely unorganized! often times i feel like ally sheedy in the breakfast club.

so, "do i always carry around this much shit in my bag?" yes...and here's a look at it!

1. checkbook. yes, i still write checks.
2. an array of socks. hahaha i really don't know what they are doing there or how they got there.
3. my coach wallet. it was a gift from my dad when i graduated high school. still in great shape!
4. camera and holder. never leave home without it!
5. the lamest phone on earth.
6. 4 sharpies and a pencil. no explanation on this one.

10. a harmonica which i can't play

you want to know something even worse???? i just cleaned it out! i know, i should really be ashamed of this. it's pretty embarrassing. but, that's the reality. just trying to give a peek into the life of the real me :D

p.s.- do like how i arranged it all so nicely for the picture? and took the time to add numbers to each item? see, i can be orderly. but it really looks much worse all stuffed into my purse :D

pop out sandal skates

how RAD are these?!! and how have i never seen them before yesterday???
are they easy to walk in? would i eat it every time i wore them?
