Shop Update

I'm cleaning out my closet and listing some great dresses, skirts and tops from my personal wardrobe to my Etsy shop! I'm trying to save up so I can purchase the rest of the things I need so I can begin practicing wet plate collodion/tintype photography. I took a workshop earlier this year and I don't think I ever posted about it. Hopefully I can get a post up tomorrow. my lovely friend Jessica modeled all the clothes for me since i'm unable to at this point. i really wish there was a link on her name that took you to her blog and etsy shop, but unfortunately she has neither. she is an amazing writer and crafter and always looks awesome, not to mention she is truly a very sweet and super fun soul. she has three little boys and seriously her stories are the best! i've been trying to convince her for the last year to do these things, so hopefully in 2011 she will!

Lalouka

I'm always impressed by those who are talented seamstresses and Lalouka is apparently one of these souls! Her summer collection is fun and creative with a retro flair. Many of the items are made with vintage fabrics which always makes a piece more unique. I also love the addition of the denim details and, of course, the floral fabrics. i ♥ macrame!

Here is my new macrame purse I bought yesterday! I think I'm going to have to keep it for now :D

Macramé is an ancient craft of knotting in geometric patterns to create a host of creative arts; from jewelry and home decorations to plant holders and wall hangers. The term macramé is Arabic in origin meaning 'fringe'. The art of macramé dates back to the thirteenth century when the Arabian weavers started knotting the extra fabric at the edges of loomed fabric. What began as a craft making skillful use of knots has grown to become "Macramania"! (source)

I'm not sure what it is about macrame that is so appealing to me lately, but I'm dying to learn how to do it! Last weekend Nicky's Mom (who use to be an avid Macrame-er in the 70's) bought a vintage macrame pattern book. She may not know it, but I've decided she must teach me! I will also be keeping my eyes peeled for any macrame items in the thrift stores :D
