we watched the woodmans last night, a documentary about the photographer francesca woodman. it is a tragic story, but it seems that is often the case with art and artist. i had not heard of her before but was immediately drawn to her photographs and wanted to share just a few of them with you. i hope you enjoy them as much as i do!

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I watched this with Jess this past weekend and LOVED it!! I kept thinking, I need to tell Anne about this, but, as it seems, you were on the same page :) very cool. Her photos are so incredible. As is the entire story.

oh yes, the story of artist and tragedy. i am very familiar with it. i come a long line of artists and addicts, and the two intertwine so scarily and incredibly. francesca woodman wasn't an addict as i know, but myself and other family members of mine understand too well the pain of letting something out into the world and having it be rejected. our feelings are so close to the surface, the tiniest scrape does damage.
