last night a rare event took place...ruben and i had a date night and went out to eat. we rarely go out to eat. whether it be for financial reasons, shane reasons or the mere fact that what we make at home is often far better than the local restaurant fare, it just doesn't happen often. BUT, when we do go out it is almost always for fish (usually sushi). so anyway, last night the three older children were at my mom's, so we just had marianne (which kind of makes us feel like we're single again) so to the crab cooker we went. we had smoked albacore, clam chowder and crab cakes. it was delicious! this restaurant has been there since 1951 and is well worth visiting. afterwards we strolled down the bustling pier and watched all the people fishing. i have a particular fondness for this area because my great grandpa was fisherman and this was his turf (i will be doing a whole post on him very soon). overall, it was a perfect evening with a beautiful sunset to boot!

Looks like a fun evening- we have a lobster restaurant here that reminds me of this one. Of course as a mother to one little boy I don't exactly feel like a night out with him is a date night! I guess I need another couple of kids for perspective :)
ReplyDeleteHoorah for date nights! nothing like a little alone time to make you feel almost human again. (almost) Mmmmm seafood, I really loved the seafood I had in Cal; you look pretty as a peach. Made me laugh reading about Shane as the reason for little restaurant outings....he is a cute little dude.
ReplyDeleteoooh, what a perfect night. i love your photos. the one of you and marianne is so classic and her little tan leggies look edibly delicious! i want to learn to take photos like that one of the restaurant's interior with a waitress going by in a blur...so rad and looks like a bygone era. thanks for the glimpse into a dreamy fisherman's world.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos looks like a great date night! I am in dire need of a date night lol!

i can't wait to read about your great grandfather. i love family stories!
ReplyDeletehere i am, ready to comment, and i discover that my words have already been typed by the beautiful hands of teeny, heather, elizabeth and nichole. so the only thing i have left to say is this: i was afraid to click on this post because i thought it might be about a DIY crab cookout (with sad doomed crabs) at your house. it is with utter relief that i realize it is about a nourishing evening with your man. xo
ReplyDeleteoh, and after reading elizabeth's comment...i would LOVE to read about both your experiences with eft. i have just started studying it (on my own, can't afford trainings) and want to use it with clients...i love it so far!
ReplyDeleteI love that place too - and the pictures really capture the whole nostalgic vibe. And now I'm seriously craving clam chowder....
