today i'm sharing my italian/oil and vinegar/just plain basic salad dressing recipe. i get lots of compliments on it and it's so easy to make...this is all you need-
3 T extra virgin olive oil
1 T balsamic vinegar
good pinch of basil and oregano (i use parsley too if i have it)
1 crushed garlic clove
salt and pepper to taste
making your own dressing is soooo superior to store bought dressings, plus it doesn't have all those preservatives, artificial colors and who knows what else. just stir up the above ingredients and pour it onto your salad! BAM! enjoy a yummy flavorful explosion in your mouth!
you know what's funny? even though it is so simple, it actually took me about a year to perfect it :D i've dabbled with adding raw honey and using different types of vinegars, so feel free to experiment. also, if you have a standard dressing recipe you'd like to share, please do so!
next up in my dressing recipe posts will be an amazing bleu cheese recipe. it's seriously amazing!

ReplyDeleteThank you for this! Now that it is salad season, I will be trying this. Also, can't wait for the bleu cheese version! I just pinned this onto Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteYes! This is how I make our salad dressing too. Can't go back to store bought dressings ever. People always compliment me on my salads and ask me to bring salads to things and it's all because of this dressing! I start off by adding the salt straight to the crushed garlic, mashing it up and letting it sit for a minute so the salt cures the raw garlic just enough to take away that raw garlic bite. Do you use that trick? I don't usually add herbs but I think I'll start playing around with that. Will try your oregano/basil combo :)
