alabama getaway

yesterday, while out thrifting for my shop, i came across a hawaiian shirt that reminded me of the one christian slater wears in true romance. i got to thinking about hawaiian shirts and how it's been a while since they were popular, so i bought it. ruben and i have always had so much fun trying to predict the next big trend. i think they'll be "in" real soon.

and if i'm talking about true romance, i can't fail to mention alabama and her rad style. how adorable is patricia arquette?!! i love her and her wardrobe in this movie.
what do think the next big trend will be? tell me your predictions!

  1. I have to say, Mike had the very BEST vintage Hawaiian shirt collection when I first met him playing in the surf band. He even wore an old straw hat. So cute.

However, I personally don't think it's been long enough for the H. Shirt revival. "Tommy Bahama" ruined it for a long, good while for me. But, as we all know, everything comes around again, so I'm sure the right guy could pull it off, at some point. I mean, If the hipsters can hipstify scrunchies, and giant nerd glasses, ANYthing is possible.

  3. I was SUCH A FAN of Patricia Arquette, still am. How did she always manage to be so adorable. I even liked her middle aged in "Medium".

  4. Anne we have a bit of a movie simpatico thing going on. Yep, loved Patricia in this movie. Christian had some fab leading ladies - Samantha Mathis in Pump Up The Volume was another one. Bring back the Hawaii shirt.

  5. Is it wrong that Christian Slater creeps me out? I can't help it, he just has this slimey feel to him hah. I really, really kind of want those pink skin-tight leopard pants, for some mad reason. I so can't even guess what the next trend will be... I'll just be glad when being hippie goes out of style so I stop looking like a cookie cutter (what crazy person buys "boho" items for new anyway, ouch price tag).

  7. Patricia Arquette is lookin' hot! I've never seen this film, but based on these screenshots I think I may have to now.

Also, your outfit in the previous post is just the sweetest!

  9. This looks like a good vintage film! I shall stop by the library and rent it out soon. I can't think of what the next trend will be! I'm hoping it doesn't get too futuristic and that there will always be vintage revivers! :)

  11. Yes, it's inevitable, the Hawaiian shirt will have it's day in the sun (harhar) again at some point!

I say look out for floral pants this spring!

Great movie, deserves a re-watch soon for sure :)
