I went back to see the gypsy,
It was nearly early dawn.
The gypsy's door was open wide
But the gypsy was gone,
And that pretty dancing girl,
She could not be found.
So I watched that sun come rising
From that little Minnesota town.

Bob Dylan- Went To See The Gypsy
This is the first, of many to come, gypsy posts. Over the years, I have realized how many of my favorite songs talk about gypsies. I made a gypsy playlist, but instead of giving them all to you at once, I decided I'd break them up into posts of their own.
This first song is by Bob Dylan off of New Morning. Take a listen here.
I do not believe in fortune telling in any way, but the whole idea of the "gypsy lifestyle" is very appealing to me. The music, house trucks and the fashion... I love it all!
Hope you enjoy!

ReplyDeleteWhat I love is sitting around a fire with folk music. That last picture is so awesome I love fairy lights :)
ReplyDeleteOooh I always associate explosions of colour, campfires, bells and a lot of mystery with gypsies. I think that there's a lot of inspiration to be found!

I'm with you on the gypsy intrigue! :) There is a wonderful book called 'Bury Me Standing' by Isabel Fonseca - she went and lived with some Romani people for a while and it's fairly fascinating!
ReplyDeleteOh man, gypsies! Ok, you've got me. I have many a gypsy dream.
ReplyDeletei've been so into the romance of gypsies for years...the thought of wandering off in a colorful caravan with old lacy curtains, building bonfires at night and wearing shawls and long layered ruffled skirts and hoop earrings, oh how i could go on and on. these pictures are so lovely.
