A Morning Stroll

Last weekend I went on a glorious morning walk all by myself. The birds were fluttering about and singing their hearts out and I was heaven!

A few months ago I got a Field Guide to local birds and it's been really fun identifying them. Above is a Lesser Goldfinch.

Below are three more feasting away. I stood and watched them for several minutes.

As I walked on I came to a large pond which I'd never seen before. I'm not sure how I missed it all these years as I've walked by the area too many times to count.

I saw this Mourning Dove and managed to snap a couple pictures before it flew away. Shane loves Mourning Doves and is very good at imitating their call.

This next picture is very dark but if you look closely you'll see a chubby sparrow.

Death of a moth.

Last but not least is the adorable Spotted Towhee!

Thanks for coming along on my walk!

  1. I'm pretty sure it's against all the rules to claim I want alone time a mere few weeks after having a new baby, but even the idea of a walk to myself sounds kinda heavenly. Your's looks like it was beautiful-- hope it was restorative too.

  2. Aw, spotted towhee is my favorite bird as of late. I just marvel over their gorgeous markings! I haven't really seen goldfinches around here, but we do have a pair of mourning doves nearby whose beautiful call we hear in the evenings. We have tons of woodpeckers too, also with striking markings. What a lovely walk!

  4. I love the slow deliberate nature of this post. So lovely! Also, we have a mourning dove with a nest outside our window that wakes us up every morning at around 6am, and honestly, I don't mind at all!

  5. Been off gallivanting across the world again so I've been absent from commenting. These photos are so reminiscent of my recent time in Arizona. Arizona was breathtaking, otherworldly, and so so different from what I'm used to.
