Watching Reading Listening

It's time for another edition of Watching Reading Listening! Aren't you stoked? I bet you are.

W A T C H I N G
Ruben and I watched Muscle Shoals the other night and it is SO GOOD! Seriously. If you have Netflix on your tv you can watch it and you should tonight!

My sister sent me The Strange Case Of Dr. Terry and Mr. Chimes before Lent and I've been slowly reading it since. I say slowly because sitting down and enjoying a book isn't something that I get to do often. Anyway, she told me that one of the Sisters had read an article about this punk band drummer returning to the church and that he had written a book. She soon found out that the author was the original drummer of The Clash! Seeing as how she listened to them before entering the convent and knowing that me and Ruben were big fans she thought I'd like to read it. It's been really good so far and I look forward to finding out what lead him to be becoming a chiropractor and returning to the Catholic faith.

Living in southern California you might assume that we'd have awesome radio stations. Well we don't. They are the most generic, boring and repetitive stations around! Last year I discovered a small local station, 101.5 KOCI,  that is located in my very own city and it's really good! I made a playlist of songs I've heard on it and I've been listening to it at home and adding to it over time. I thought someone might else might enjoy it so I'm sharing it here :)

Care to share what you've been watching, reading and listening to?

  1. I'm currently on the last season of 30 Rock and I just started Lord of the Flies–one of those books I feel like I should have read years ago!

    1. I haven't finished 30 rock but dang that's a hilarious show! And come to think of it, I don't think I ever read lord of the flies either. I'll have to add that one to my list :)

  2. Muscle Shoals looks good. I'll have to see it. I remember 30 Rock and it was indeed very funny.
Most of all though, I seriously love the photos from Instagram you shared on an earlier post - forgot the name of the place - but am going to head over there in a sec. Thanks.

  3. I've been saving Muscle Shoals for later, BUT I did watch this AMAZING documentary entitled Punk Singer about Kathleen Hannah. You would enjoy it!

    1. even if you're not into riot grrrl it's such an interesting story about this woman's journey in a band in the 90s.

  4. I'm definitely going to have to check out that flick before I head off for the island, looks really interesting! I've been reading through one of the old books I picked up from a professor at school when he was cleaning out his office. It's about the person on whom King Arthur and his knights was based, it's really quite good. As for listening... it's like my taste in music has gone haywire lately and I've been listening to everything from 50's blues music to horrible-but-good rap haha...
