A day in the life...

Oh normal days! They aren't necessarily exciting but they certainly aren't bad. Today was my typical day filled with school drop off and pick up, coffee, card games, laundry, nursing baby, lunch duty at my daughter's school, meal making, dishes...and then some more coffee.

Speaking of card games, Shane is a game fanatic which is ok with me. His current favorite is Go Spidey (or Go Fish) which we play several times a day. I should devote a whole post to kids games because we have almost every game known to man and I have lots of recommendations which both parent and child will enjoy. I've been happy with all the card games he's been into this last year (Uno, war, Crazy Eights) because he easily learned his numbers while having fun. Soon we'll be playing Scrabble! My favorite game :)

Marianne has been very interested in playing music and gets it out the ukulele every time Ruben plays his guitar. It's really cute. She even sings some of her favorite songs while strumming.

Ok, not the most exciting post but it's real life. And hey, I'm attempting to keep up with this here blog of mine so I'll go ahead and pat myself on the back for that :)

  1. oh my goodness, i love when you post about your real life! seriously. little details about the kids, your home, i don't know why, but i love it. i love the big ziploc bag drying with your dishes (so familiar) and the pretty tiny face peeking up at you, the varied gatherings round the kitchen table. shane is looking so grown up these days! marianne too! it fascinates me to see different combinations of two people in their children. if it weren't such a big deal to grow, birth, and raise a child, i'd want to see how very endless those combinations can be, haha. each of your children is so beautiful and each so different. anyway i'm rambling but i will add this: i thought my days were busy. i forget how hard it would be if i had to shuttle kids back and forth to school too! can't imagine doing newborn days (soooo much nursing!) with those kinds of errands too. great work mama. you amaze me. and your house looks dang good too, wow.

  2. Thank you heather! I find the combinations of people fascinating as well. It weird, I can see the parents in other kids but not really my own. I don't know why. I see my husband in them but not me.

As for my living room, that and the dining area are our main living spaces (we have a whole upstairs with bedrooms but none of us hang out in our rooms). I really try and keep those areas picked up because we're a bit squished as it is and if it's messy in there AND there's 7 people in there... It's a bit chaotic :)

  3. Scrabble is the best, my mother and I play together quite often. I'm one of those evil people who sticks an S at the end of a word to make it plural and piggy back on points :P

    1. I'm pretty ruthless, even with my kids :) did you see that documentary on scrabble? It totally opened up a whole new way of playing for me. If you haven't seen it you should

  4. Normal days should be reported more often. They are the bread and butter of our worlds. Sometimes they are the most magical of times. I love seeing your world like this; the dishes clean and dirty, sweet lil' Marianne strumming away. If only I could open some window on this screen and waltz right in…
    Love to you and yours.

  5. I happen to love posts like these! I think they are so intimate. And yes! Please do a post on kids' games that you love. We are playing LOTS of card games around here and Milo is trying to teach me chess, though I can't seem to keep the moves straight because of all the interruptions.

    1. Yes, I haven't gotten a full understanding of chess yet either. My oldest son and husband play it though. I'll have to get going on a game now that I know at least one person would be interested :)
