almond milk is so quick and easy to make that there is no need to buy it at the store. this is all you need-
5 cups water
1/2 cup raw almonds
dash of sea salt
1 date
1/2 vanilla bean
blend everything up in a blender and enjoy within 4 days!
i've been using almond milk instead of water in my green smoothies. it really adds a lot and makes for a much more filling breakfast. do you like almond milk? what do you use it for when cooking?
*i want to note that i have a high speed blender which really gets everything blended. if you don't have one i would suggest soaking your almonds and possibly straining the milk with cheesecloth to get out any big chunks.

I really need to get myself a decent blender. I've never tried almond milk before, but the idea of it in a smoothie sounds good.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for posting this. I almost, almost, almost caved today and bought insanely expensive rice milk (I made my own and it was terrible). But I've been wishing for almond all along. I'm going to make this, stat!

This is so awesome! A friend I know has a very involved cheesecloth/soaking method, and this seems so simple and great. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteyay food stuffs! woot! i can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteon the tip about the almonds being hard...if i forget/don't have time to soak 'em, i blanch them in boiling water for two minutes and then shuck their little coats off. do you think blanching lowers the nutritional value at all? xo
ok, I want to try this! Almond Milk store bought, is so expensive!
