Sometimes not having a backyard can be hard, especially when I see beautiful, bountiful home gardens and all the homegrown goodness they produce. I've considered getting a space at our local community garden but it has a 2 year waiting list. I also thought about doing a container garden but we already have so many plants on the patio and there really isn't any floor space left. That got me thinking about hanging gardens...
Last year I was at a local nursery and saw these cool wool pocket plant hangers. I decided then that that was what I needed to do when I was ready to get going on a garden.
Since I don't have too much experience growing food I thought I'd start with herbs. Things are going great so far! I plan on slowly purchasing more pockets and trying out some veggies.
Ruben made me this delicious salad using some of our herbs and it was so tasty I thought I'd share the recipe.
For the salad-
Your choice of lettuce chopped
thinly sliced onion
chopped raw walnuts, apples and celery
Dressing-
3 T extra virgin olive oil
1 T white balsamic vinegar
1 sage leaf minced
small amount of mint minced
salt and pepper
Hope you enjoy it!
