My Favorite ~ Beach

We had such a wonderful day at Crystal Cove on Saturday. It is by far my favorite beach in Orange County. When you go there, you feel as though you've been on vacation for the day. There are adorable houses you can rent (like the one from the movie Beaches), I am dying to get one! There's also a restaurant/bar (on the sand), tide pools and of course the beautiful scenery. All in all, it's the perfect beach!

Coney Island! What can I say... even though I've never been there, I'm quite taken with the place. I would have loved to have been there in it's heyday. How awesome it must have been!

Here are some fun, colorful home items. The first two are from Plumo and the bird and snail are from Anthropologie. I don't know about you, but I get inspired just thinking about Anthropologie.

Thank you David Lynch for Twin Peaks. It's one of the best TV shows ever! Audrey, Agent Cooper, Laura Palmer, the Log Lady... I was obsessed with the show when it first came out. We even had all the episodes on laser disc! Anyone remember those? Today I'm highlighting Audrey Horne. I know, I know... she's every ones favorite, but she really is the bee's knee's. From her plaid skirts to her red lips, what girl wouldn't want to be her!

"My log has something to tell you."

I have to say, Twin Peaks had some of my favorite TV characters of all time. How cool is the Log Lady! Well, this pillow is just as awesome. It's from Sally England Design and you can get it here.

The Burnin' Bowl!!!

I just got this picture, from Saturday night, from my friend. What a cool shot! The fireworks were going off during the 1812 overture. You can see the USC marching band lined up in front of the stage. What an awesome night!!

My Birthday Weekend

I started out my wonderful weekend with some thrifting on Friday. On Saturday my husband and Mom made an amazing picnic dinner for our night at the Hollywood Bowl. We went to the Tchaikovsky Spectacular with fireworks. It was awesome! Listening to live music outside with your family and friends... who could ask for more?

Pizza and some Burgundy

Last night we had our inaugural Pizza and a Movie. As you can see, we chose to watch Anchorman, a favorite around here. "I don't know if you know this, but I'm kinda a big deal... people know me." We had left over dough, so Ruben made a Dough Burgundy. Rad! Anyway, the pizza turned out great, and was of course a lot of fun to make. Here's the recipe-

3/4 cup warm water (105°F to 115°F)
1 envelope active dry yeast
2 cups (or more) all purpose flour
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation
Pour 3/4 cup warm water into small bowl; stir in yeast. Let stand until yeast dissolves, about 5 minutes.
Brush large bowl lightly with olive oil. Mix 2 cups flour, sugar, and salt in processor. Add yeast mixture and 3 tablespoons oil; process until dough forms a sticky ball. Transfer to lightly floured surface. KNEAD dough until smooth, adding more flour by tablespoonfuls if dough is very sticky, about 1 minute. Transfer to prepared bowl; turn dough in bowl to coat with oil. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let dough rise in warm draft-free area until doubled in volume, about 1 hour. PUNCH down dough. DO AHEAD Can be made 1 day ahead. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. ROLL out dough according to recipe instructions. (Start in center of dough, working outward toward edges but not rolling over them.)

Here is my newest quilt! It only took three years to complete. I had originally started it for a friend, but soon became unsure if it suited her. So, there it sat for years, only to be resurrected and finished a couple of weeks ago. I can't say sewing is my absolute fave, but it sure felt great to finish it.
